Frequently asked questions
Plans, data, the free trial and how the app works.
What is Startups Compass?
A fundraising CRM for founders. It keeps your investor pipeline with follow-up reminders, notes and documents, a multi-round cap table with dilution, partnerships, tasks and costs — in one place, from the first intro to a closed round.
Who is it for?
Founders who are raising money, or about to, and want to track every investor conversation and know their real dilution without juggling spreadsheets.
Where is my data stored?
In your own browser, on your own computer, and — unless you switch it off — also as an encrypted copy in the European Union, so you can switch computers without backing up by hand. The files you attach are stored there too (up to 2 GB).
What does the plan include, and what does it cost?
There is one plan: $19.90 a month or $199 a year (two months free), or €19.90 a month or €199 a year in euros. The currency offered first follows your country, and you can choose either one. It includes the whole app, the cloud copy with the last 10 daily restore points, 2 GB of file storage (up to 50 MB per file) and two read-only viewers. Additional viewers are $3.90 a month each, up to five in all.
Who is a viewer?
A partner, co-founder or advisor you invite by email. A viewer sees everything in your account, read-only: they cannot change or delete anything, and you can remove them at any moment. They need no subscription of their own.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Your first subscription starts with a 14-day free trial. A payment method is needed to start it; if you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged at all.
Can I cancel, and how do refunds work?
You can cancel at any time yourself, from the app's settings; cancelling stops the next renewal. You can request a refund within 14 days of any charge. Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record, under Paddle's refund policy.
Can I bring in my existing investor list?
Yes. Import an Excel or CSV file from the Import / Export tab; you map its columns to fields before anything is imported. You can export everything to Excel or a full backup file at any time.
Does Startups Compass send emails to investors for me?
No. The app helps you write emails from templates and opens them in your own email app; you review and send each one yourself. We never send messages on your behalf.
Do you read my data or use it to train AI?
No. We hold an encrypted copy only so it can be restored for you; we do not read it except as needed to support and secure the service or where legally required, and we never use it to build any product, dataset or model. If you switch the cloud copy off, we never receive your records at all.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
For 60 days after a subscription ends you can sign in and download everything — an Excel export, a full backup file and a ZIP of your files — or choose a plan again. After 60 days the cloud copy and stored files are deleted. Data in your own browser is never touched by us.
What can the cap table and dilution calculator do?
Model your cap table round by round — SAFEs, convertible notes, priced rounds, secondaries and the option pool — and see each holder's ownership and dilution. A simplified free dilution calculator is available without signing up.
Does it use AI?
Yes, with privacy first. On an investor you can get a short summary of all your notes, written by the AI that is built into your browser — on your computer, with nothing sent to us or to any AI provider. It is offered where your browser has its own built-in AI (today Chrome), in the languages it supports.
Can I send my deck from the app?
Yes, as the file itself. Mark your current deck in the Files library; on an investor, the app hands the deck to your own email app already attached (or downloads it and opens the email with the investor's address filled in). You review and send it yourself, and it is noted in that investor's history.
How does it help me keep investors moving?
Each investor has a one-glance brief of where things stand. The Dashboard shows who has gone quiet and is waiting for a follow-up, your overdue reminders and what is coming up, and when a meeting is set one click adds it to your calendar.
Which languages does it support?
English, Hebrew, Japanese, Spanish, French, German and Chinese.
